SEO and Social Media
Ngage CMS provides developers with technical fundamentals to drive organic SEO.
In a market that relies heavily on SEO, our CMS provides functions that help to generate the highest possible organic rating for your website. Ngage CMS simplifies this process with our inbuilt functions, which could mean the difference between a successful and unsuccessful website.
Canonical URL's
Web pages that are published across multiple areas of your website would normally cause page duplication issues. Ngage CMS handles this by using the 'Multisite' feature. We automatically add a 'Canonical' tag to the duplicate pages, informing search engines that the pages are duplicated for a reason.
Web pages that are published across multiple websites (domains) are handled slightly differently, as the 'Canonical' cannot be used in this scenario. Ngage CMS automatically adds an entry to the 'robots.txt' file, which informs search engines to totally ignore the duplicate content. Web pages that are multi-sited across domains cannot gain any type of search engine ranking.
Page Rename/Delete Redirects
If a web page is renamed or deleted, search engines will still have the URL indexed within their search results. This could take at least six weeks to be removed. Ngage CMS handles this by storing the old URL and redirecting to the newly renamed web page. If a web page is deleted within the CMS, the user will be alerted to either 'ignore search engines' or 'select a redirect page'.
URL Redirects
Your website may be reporting 404 errors within your analytic software. For example, if your website was previously structured in a different way or used a different technology, you could have URL's still indexed by search engines or other websites are linking to an old web page.
As in point 1 below, this URL would not exist on the Ngage CMS system. You can add URL redirects in the settings area of the CMS. This will redirect the URL to a specified valid URL and inform search engines this URL has been moved permanently.
